Crimea – Been there, done that

I’m back from a visit on Crimea peninsula.

Welcome to Crimea.

Why I was there? To get a first hand, unbiased, personal impression of the situation on Crimea.

The Monument to the ships scuttled during the siege of Sevastopol during the Crimean war.

Sevastopol victory parade on May 9th, 2018.

I visit the victory parade on May 9th, 2018 in Sevastopol. I cannot describe the impressions I got there. Never experience something like this in my life before. Highly emotional, hard to understand for anyone who never was on such a parade.

Hotel “Atrium King’s Way”, Sevastopol

In Sevastopol we stayed in hotel “Atrium King’s Way“. Small, but fine accommodation with excellent restaurant, serving delicious food. Only drawback, it’s on the wrong side of the city, reaching Sevastopol center requires transport and takes time depending on traffic jam.

Hotel “Bristol”, Yalta

In Yalta, we stayed in hotel “Bristol“, a big one close to the port and promenade but with long historical background. Nice, but with focus on mass tourism, liked the Atrium more. Restaurant used only for (European) breakfast, which was good and rich. From there everything is reachable by feet or bus, even by boat.

My conclusion:

  1. Everything you see and hear about Crimea in western media is either fake news or pure propaganda.
  2. Crimea will never be Ukraine again, never ever. This is something Crimean people will no longer accept.

My recommendation:

Go there, get yourself an impression, form your own opinion.

Крым – Это Россия.
